Meet André Viana:
On 25 May, we met our student André Viana at the annual GSIC powered by Microsoft conference in Madrid. André recently graduated from the Master in International Sport Management and is currently working as Chief Advisor at Portuguese football club SC Braga.
As he tells us in this interview, the reason for his attendance and participation in the GSIC Summit is a new project within the club, SCB Innovation Hub. The SCB Innovation Hub, also in partnership with GSIC and Microsoft, is a sports technology accelerator programme based in Portugal.
André was invited to this year’s congress to give a presentation on his new project and a workshop on how to leverage analytics and technology to improve athlete performance.

ESBS: Hi, André! Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and why you are attending the GSIC Summit 2023?
André: Hello, I am Andre Viana, from the Portuguese Sporting Club of Braga and I’m at the Global Sport Innovation Center Summit. We are members of GSIC and we were invited to make a presentation because we have an innovation programme in the club. Also to get in touch with the people we know here, to hear about new ideas and new projects.
ESBS: What are your and your company’s expectations for this Sports Innovation Summit?
André: The expectations are the best. It is also an opportunity to meet new ideas and new projects and above all, to learn about the impact that innovation will continue to have on the sports industry.
ESBS: Could you tell us about your position and company? How does it relate to sport innovation?
André: I am the advisor to the president of the club, but I am also responsible for a project that we have just created, which is the Innovation Hub of Braga. It is a joint project with Microsoft. Sports entities are always looking for innovation, because it can be decisive in the results we get and also in the relationship we establish with people. That is why we are companies that are always betting on technology, on innovation, on ideas and projects that are entrepreneurial. Now even more so with the Innovation Hub project we have and which positions us as an important place in the innovation ecosystem.
