What is it like working as an Event Assistant for the 2024 Olympic Games? 👀

In December we caught up with our Global Sport Business Master alumni Louis Perruchot in Madrid.

Louis Perruchot came to our Madrid and Valencia campus to do a masterclass in ‘The Olympic & Paralympics Games: Start Your Careers at Paris 2024’.

In this video, he tells us about his career from student at ESBS and AMOS to Event Assistant at this year’s Olympic Games. Thank you, Louis!

Louis: Hello, I am Louis Perruchot, and I’m working for the Paris 2024 Olympics as Event Assistant for Event and Venue Management. I am a former student of ESBS and AMOS from the promotion 2022.

ESBS: How was the transition between being a Global Sport Business Master student and starting your career?

Louis: It was natural. I finished AMOS and then I started my internship for the Olympic Games as Project Manager Officer for the football cluster. So, the organization of the football tournaments for the Olympic Games, for six months, and then I transformed my internship into a short-term contract, still for the football Olympic Games. And now I’m working as an Event Assistant for Châteauroux for the shooting departments. Yeah, it’s where I am today.

ESBS: What does an Event Assistant at the Olympics do?

Louis: My job consists of coordination of all the teams that are working for the shooting events in Châteauroux. o, we have people from accreditation, transport, security… that are working on different venues, and my job is to take the information that is specific to Châteauroux and then be sure that they are working in good conditions, to make them feel comfortable, to make the project go on a good track. So we coordinate, we communicate a lot. I love to work with people, so it’s really a lot of communication and we learn a lot from everyone.

ESBS: What careers advice do you have for students?

Louis: If you want to work in sports events I would advise you to probably start volunteering. This is what is going to show you how it is really on the field. If you love volunteering, then you will probably love doing it for your work. If you also have the chance to work with volunteers in the future you will then know how to take care of them.
