Our students had the opportunity to attend and volunteer at the Hockey Pre-Olympic for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games 🏒
This month, in Valencia, the Hockey Pre-Olympic for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was held at the Verge del Carme municipal sports centre, where three places were awarded for the Olympics in July.
Read our student Adriana Babinski’s experience below:
“Watching sports on TV is one thing, but being there, and experiencing the event in person, seeing the operational aspects, and observing all the hard work behind the scenes, is a completely different and enriching experience. I have had the pleasure to volunteer as a team liaison officer for Team Canada’s field hockey squad during the Olympic Qualifiers for Paris 2024, here in Valencia.
Volunteering for an event like this, with Olympic athletes has been an invaluable experience. I have been able to learn and apply various skills, including operational efficiency, effective communication, and critical thinking, all essential aspects of event management.
Additionally, the collaborative spirit among the team of volunteers and coordinators has been great throughout the tournament. It has been immensely rewarding to work alongside a dedicated group, and to close the day with satisfaction.
All in all, this experience, the planning, the effective execution, and connections among the team have created amazing memories. As I continue to navigate this tournament and my role as a TLO, I am excited to take this experience, and the skills I’ve learnt, to add to my personal and professional growth.”
